Foodsize catfish feed delivered totaled 29,131 tons, down 24 percent from the corresponding month a year ago. Feed delivered for fingerlings and broodfish totaled 1,177 tons, down 43 percent from the corresponding month a year ago.

The group recently signed a contract with the Tawi-Tawi Multi-Species Hatchery to grow these species.


Under the deal, the hatchery provides MCO with abalone spats and grouper fingerlings.

The company has about 600,000 fish in various farms across southwestern New Brunswick and another 155,000 in southern Newfoundland and Labrador.

The water corporation is working with researchers from Deakin University to find out if farming fish in waste water pools can improve the quality of the water.

The trial will be carried out at the Hamilton water reclamation plant and should be finished by November.
